Style Guide: Celebration of Compost Critters Party

Theme

Theme

Theme

Two women holding garden tools and signs with playful gardening slogans.

Let’s celebrate our tiniest, most unsung neighbors, the critters who turn our garbage to compost gold.

Behind every handful of rich, earthy compost is a bustling underground crew working overtime. A healthy compost pile hosts over 10 billion microbes per gram—each one turning scraps into soil gold.

Every hero deserves a party.

Decor

Theme

Theme

A cardboard box labeled 'Our Guest of Honor' filled with soil.

Crown a box full of compost as

"Guest of Honor" on a pedestal at the entrance. Add a brown paper banner with a punny tribute like “Rot Stars: Composting Critters on Duty.”

Cover tables with compostable brown paper and adorn with arrangements of herbs, fresh-picked flowers or veggies

Offer selfie signs with punny sayings like "Let's Rot and Roll" or  "Let's Get Dirty."

Table

Theme

The Pour

A beautifully arranged outdoor table with fresh fruits, vegetables, and decorated napkins.

Handheld plant-based bites mean no dishes required. Think veggie sliders, deviled eggs, spring rolls, brownies, — served in edible waffle bowls or compostable napkins only.

Post a sign directing guests to deposit food scraps and napkins into the compost bin. See sample in POP Extras.

Toast each addition to the bin: "Three cheers for compost critters!"

The Pour

A beverage station with cups, drink cartons, and a large dispenser outdoors.

Serve dirty martinis or a Mud Bar: coffee, plant-based creamers, whipped cream, sprinkles.

Skip the non-compostable plastics and offer reusable cups and glasses.

Make Merry

Super Green Upgrades

Super Green Upgrades

A handwritten poem titled 'An Ode to Compost' celebrating the benefits of composting.

Set up a place for guests to add their own lines to an Ode to Compost poem.

Quiz guests on facts and myths.

Festoon the winner with a paper sash declaring them a Rot Star.

  •  Serve only seasonal, organic, local produce, eggs, or grains
  • Use natural and upcycled serving containers like tin cans, Mason jars, chipped teacups, terra cotta pots, or hollowed-out melons
